Preparing for the big RUN

The Lululemon Seawheeze half marathon is just 4 days away and I'm struggling to contain my excitement!!!  My husband and I ran our final "tapering" 6 mile run this past Saturday and we were up in Twain Harte (3500ft elevation) and on a dirt road and I felt GREAT!!  I only hope I can replicate what I did to make that run feel so amazing this coming weekend!!

The beautiful trail we ran for our 6 miler

As great as my run felt, I did have some tightness in my left breast (Thelma) due to the expansions.  I thought I was done with expanding but the surgeon contacted me early last week saying that he'd like to try and get the volumes equal in each breast.  This meant that I needed only 15cc more in my left.  But, because Thelma was already feeling SUPER tight and unforgiving I asked if we could inject half of that, a whole whopping 7.5cc.  My surgeon agreed that would be a good idea, and so I went in last Wednesday!  Holy smokes did it get even TIGHTER than it was before..I didn't even know that was possible!!!!

I feel it most right when I wake up...not sure if I sleep with my arms stretched out or maybe on my sides so they get a bit squished and irritated, either way, waking up has been a bit more uncomfortable the past week!  During my run, while pumping my arms, my left arm had a tough time fully extending back due to the fact that my scar tissue isn't allowing the full stretch as it normally should :(

Ya, it sucks that I wake up every morning uncomfortable and tight and it sucks that my runs are affected by this, but here's what I keep telling myself..."YOU ONLY HAVE TO DO THIS FOR A FEW MORE WEEKS!!!!!!!"  And that right there is what makes it totally ok!!!  I am SO stoked for this next surgery because these torturous expanders will be out and then I'll have beautiful, soft, squishy and oh-so-comfy silicone implants under my chest muscles and my surgeon will take down all the scar tissue and fix anything that needs to be fixed!!

Wish me luck on my run and I'll be posting a day or so after to let you all know Thelma & Louise did during all 13.1 miles!!! :)
